Well, many of you will be well aware of the tremendous work our fieldworkers do across New Zealand. What you may not realise is that they are all part-time and between just 7 of them (4.5 full time equivalent), cover the entire country. This work includes support to people with motor neurone disease, their families/whanau and carers through the provision of information, a professional field work service and promoting educational awareness of the disease to other health professionals and the wider community.
Funding this service is always precarious – we have a government contract to June 2011 that covers just over 2 months’ operating costs – the rest we have to generate through fundraising, donations, grant applications and bequests. We do know that everyone is asking for your dollar! Here are some ways you may consider looking at helping to secure future of The MND Association’s valuable work for years to come:
If you give us funds, please think of making the wording as unspecific as possible – we will always allocate ‘untagged’ funds to established priorities such as maintaining or extending the service.
Tell all your friends to ask their workplace about using Payroll Giving to support the MND Assoc. 500 people giving a dollar a week to The MND Association would give us $26,000 a year! And thanks to current tax benefits would only cost each of them 67 cents a week.
This is such a simple way to ensure that funds are available to provide much depended on services year after year.
This way you can see the benefit of your gift in your lifetime – and get 30% tax back on it!
On our website front page click on the button that says “make a donation” and you can make a credit card donation straight away! ![]()
Fundraise Online is a website that helps anyone taking part in an event such as a marathon or sponsored run or walk or even just a fundraising day to have a website and donate money to their particular charity.
Check out www.fundraiseonline.co.nz and select The MND Association as your charity (of course!) You can also make a one-off donation to the MND Association by selecting the charity section and paying by credit card. ![]()
Set up a memorial trust. Funding in celebration of the wonderful life of a loved
friend or family member can be a great way to raise funds for The MND Association.
Leave a bequest to The MND association in your will – there is some useful wording for this on our website.
We have a Trade Me slot where we can send details of items we have for sale to a central point and have them listed on TradeMe for sale with proceeds going direct to the MND Association.
That’s it! Easy as can be! Get rummaging!
